SteamWorld Dig 2

SteamWorld Dig 2 is a compact underground adventure about mining your way through layered caverns, finding upgrades, and using them to reach places that were just out of range before. The digging is more directed than a sandbox game: you are carving paths, solving light environmental puzzles, and steadily opening up a Metroidvania-style map. It has a warm, readable steampunk-western style and a satisfying upgrade loop, making it a good pick if you like exploration games that keep moving without sprawling for dozens of hours.
